Hatch Baby Inc., a well-known manufacturer of baby products, has initiated a safety recall for nearly 1 million power adapters used with their 'Rest 1st Generation' sound machines (approximately 919,400 units in the US and 44,352 in Canada). The recall addresses a potential shock hazard associated with these adapters.

 


 

The Recall in Detail

  • Affected Products: The recall targets power adapters manufactured by Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co, specifically those with model number CYAP05 050100U. These adapters were included with 'Hatch Rest 1st Generation' sound machines sold between January 2019 and September 2022.
  • Hazard Description: The plastic housing surrounding the AC power adapter can detach when unplugging the unit,exposing live electrical prongs. This poses a serious shock hazard.
  • Reported Incidents: As of now, Hatch has received reports of 19 adapter detachments, including two minor electrical shocks.
  • Sales and Distribution: The 'Hatch Rest 1st Generation' sound machines were sold in various locations:
    • Online: Hatch website and Amazon
    • Retail Stores: BuyBuyBaby, Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and BestBuy (nationwide)
  • The sale period covered January 2019 through September 2022.

 

What to Do if You Have a Recalled Adapter
