Court halts auction of Elvis Presley’s iconic estate Graceland

The sale of Graceland, the legendary home of Elvis Presley, has been halted. A Tennessee judge, JoeDae Jenkins, blocked the auction in a brief eight-minute hearing. The decision came after doubts were raised about the authenticity of Lisa Marie Presley’s signature on the deed of trust.

The temporary injunction issued by the court effectively extends a previous restraining order. This order was put in place following a lawsuit filed by Riley Keough, Presley’s granddaughter. Keough alleged that the proposed sale was part of a fraudulent scheme.

The controversy began when a company, Naussany Investments and Private Lending, claimed that Lisa Marie Presley had used Graceland as collateral for a loan. According to the foreclosure sale notice, the Promenade Trust, which controls the Graceland museum, owes $3.8 million after failing to repay a 2018 loan.

Keough, who inherited the trust and ownership of the home after her mother’s death, disputed these claims. She alleged that Naussany presented fraudulent loan documents last September. The court documents also indicated that Kimberly Philbrick, the notary whose name appears on Naussany’s paperwork, asserted that she had neither met Lisa Marie Presley nor notarized any documents on her behalf.

Graceland, a tribute to Elvis Presley, has been a museum and tourist attraction since 1982. It draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The halt in the sale of this iconic estate has undoubtedly brought relief to fans worldwide.
