Porsche has unveiled the first-ever hybrid version of its iconic 911 sports car. This innovative leap marks a significant shift in the German automaker’s strategy, aligning with the industry’s focus on electrified vehicles and stringent fuel economy standards.

The 2025 911 Carrera GTS hybrid, priced at $164,900, is a great showcase of Porsche’s commitment to sustainable mobility. This high-performance hybrid variant accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.9 seconds, outpacing the non-hybrid GTS model by 0.3 seconds. With a top track speed of 194 mph, the hybrid sports car promises an exhilarating driving experience.

Under the hood, the 911 Carrera GTS hybrid houses a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer hybrid engine. This powertrain, producing 532 horsepower and 449 foot-pounds of torque, is a perfect blend of performance and efficiency.

Porsche’s hybrid lineup doesn’t stop at the coupe. A convertible version, or cabriolet, is also available, starting at $178,200. Both models are available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

This launch is a significant milestone in Porsche’s journey towards electrification. The company has successfully completed the development of the first 911 with a performance-focused hybrid drive. This achievement is a result of extensive testing under various conditions worldwide.

The new 911 hybrid is set to arrive at U.S. dealerships by the end of this year. With this move, Porsche joins the ranks of automakers expanding their hybrid offerings amid a slower-than-expected adoption of all-electric vehicles.
