In a thrilling revelation, Ford Performance has unveiled a sneak peek of its latest innovation, the F-150 Lightning-based EV SuperTruck. This electrifying development is set to make its grand debut at the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, a challenging event known for pushing the boundaries of automotive technology.

The SuperTruck, based on Ford’s best-selling electric pickup, has been fine-tuned by the Ford Performance team to enhance power and aerodynamics. This modification aims to tackle the grueling 12.5-mile uphill excursion of Pikes Peak, a perfect test bed for electric powertrains.

Ford’s strategy of running electric test vehicles at Pikes Peak allows the company to explore the limits of EV powertrains in extreme conditions. The insights gained from these performance-focused rolling laboratories are then utilized to enhance Ford’s production vehicles.

This is not Ford’s first venture into electric vehicle testing at Pikes Peak. Last year, Ford’s 1,400-horsepower Electric SuperVan 4.2, based on Ford Pro’s E-Transit Custom Van, set a class record en route to a victory. This year, the SuperTruck, with driver Romain Dumas at the wheel, is expected to make its qualifying run in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from June 18-20.

As the auto industry adjusts to a new wave of EV customers, Ford is also seeking new ways to cut electric vehicle manufacturing costs. This SuperTruck teaser comes at a time when Ford’s F-150 Lightning has already outpaced Tesla’s Cybertruck in monthly registration data, indicating a positive response from the market.
