Garth Gator Posted yesterday at 03:51 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:51 AM Tesla is hitting the brakes on 27,185 of its 2024 Cybertruck models due to a critical glitch with the rearview camera system. The recall, which affects vehicles produced between November 13, 2023, and September 14, 2024, was prompted after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) flagged the issue as a potential safety hazard.  The problem lies in the rearview camera’s delayed response. When drivers shift into reverse, the screen may remain blank for up to eight seconds—far exceeding the NHTSA’s requirement for the rearview display to activate within two seconds. This delay not only violates safety standards but also increases the risk of accidents.  In response, Tesla has rolled out an over-the-air software update designed to fix the delay, ensuring that the rearview camera now functions as expected.  This recall is the fifth for Tesla’s much-anticipated Cybertruck since its release in late 2023, following previous recalls addressing problems such as malfunctioning accelerator pedals and unintended front hood openings. Despite the excitement surrounding the Cybertruck’s launch, these recurring issues have kept Tesla busy with updates and repairs.  https://www.tomsguide.com/vehicle-tech/evs/tesla-recalls-27-000-cybertrucks-over-rear-camera-glitch-thats-5-recalls-this-year https://www.investopedia.com/tesla-recalls-over-27000-cybertrucks-over-rearview-camera-issue-8722535 https://apnews.com/article/tesla-cybertruck-recall-musk-32836a3471855a0a864ac1ba3d5769fc https://fortune.com/2024/10/03/tesla-cybertruck-recall-sales/   Image: Roman Tiraspolsky | Dreamstime.com
