'SpongeBob SquarePants' soaks up the Halloween spirit with horror movie poster recreations

It’s time to dive into the deep end of Halloween horror, all the way to Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob SquarePants is trading in his spatula for a scream queen crown this spooky season, serving up a platter of spine-chilling movie poster parodies that’ll have fans bubbling with excitement.

 

Nickelodeon’s beloved yellow sponge and his aquatic pals are taking a playful plunge into the world of horror classics, reimagining iconic posters with a nautical twist and sharing them on the official SpongeBob social media channels.

 

Leading the pack is Smilebob, a sinister take on the recent hit Smile. Here, the usually cheerful protagonist sports a menacing grin as he's being zipped into a body bag. Not to be outdone, Karen the Computer stars in Karen’s Baby, a ghoulish homage to the iconic green Rosemary’s Baby poster.

 

Pet Sema-Gary casts SpongeBob’s faithful snail companion in a decidedly less cuddly light, echoing the eerie atmosphere of Pet Sematary. Meanwhile, The BFF Ring, a spoof of The Ring, puts a strain on SpongeBob and Patrick’s friendship. And rounding out the series is Sponge, a nautical nod to the slasher classic Scream, which gathers SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Mrs. Puff, Sandy, and Squilvia, in a tableau of comedic terror.

These spine-tingling posters are meant to drum up excitement for Kreepaway Kamp, an hour-long special created to celebrate SpongeBob SquarePants' 25th anniversary. Airing on October 10, the episode takes fans on a trip back to Kamp Koral, where SpongeBob and his pals reunite for a spooky, nostalgic adventure.
