Street-Fighter-Sushi-Bento-Boxes-1.jpg

Street Fighter fans, get ready to “Hadouken” your sight and taste buds. Capcom’s iconic video game series has teamed up with Nara’s famous Kakinoha Sushi to serve up a combo that’s set to be a knockout in the culinary ring.

This limited-edition offering brings together beloved characters like Ryu, Chun-Li, E. Honda, and Ken, showcasing them in serene Japanese seasonal scenes, all while pairing them with a taste of the city’s culinary traditions.

Kakinoha Sushi, a regional delicacy from Nara Prefecture, is known for its distinctive preparation method involving persimmon leaves. This technique adds a subtle aroma and flavor to the vinegared rice and fish, making it a truly unique culinary experience. The Street Fighter collaboration takes this tradition to new heights, featuring vibrant illustrations of the game's martial arts masters on each bento box.

The lunch boxes feature seven pieces of sushi, including mackerel, salmon, sea bream, and horse mackerel. But what sets these boxes apart is the artistic flair on the lids. Each box showcases a Street Fighter character in a seasonal Japanese setting.

Ryu, the series’ poster boy, is depicted under a cherry blossom tree, embodying the spirit of spring.

Not to be outdone, E. Honda represents summer, enjoying a fireworks festival from a pleasure boat—a far cry from his usual sumo ring.

Chun-Li graces the fall-themed box, sitting under a traditional paper umbrella surrounded by red and orange leaves.

Winter belongs to Ken, who’s shown taking a cozy break at a heated kotatsu table, complete with a basket of oranges and some playful Street Fighter snowmen outside.

Adding a local touch, each character is accompanied by one or more of Nara’s famous wild deer, a nod to the city’s most famous residents.

Priced at 1,680 yen (about $11.30 USD), these bento boxes are available through the Izasa Nakatanihonpo online shop. Each purchase comes with a collectible postcard featuring the box artwork. And even after the sushi is long gone, these beautifully designed containers can find new life as storage boxes, adding a touch of gamer chic to any home decor.
