This collaboration between the globally acclaimed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, and IKEA, the multinational home furnishing leader, has sparked curiosity online.

The project first announced last year, known as ‘Life At Home’, is a creative journey across seven countries, capturing 25 personal portraits that reflect the authentic lives of people at home. Leibovitz, celebrated for her revolutionary portrait photography, was appointed as the first-ever artist-in-residence by IKEA. Her work, which explores profound aspects of the universal human experience, is seen as the perfect fit for this initiative.

The collaboration was inspired by IKEA’s Life at Home Report, which revealed that up to 48% of people globally do not feel their life at home is authentically represented in the media. To address this, Leibovitz traveled to homes in seven different countries: Japan, the United States, Germany, Italy, India, Sweden, and England. The result is a series of 25 powerful portraits that illuminate the nuances of ‘life at home’, creating a compelling photographic document.

The project made its debut at Paris Fashion Week, with the first photos from Leibovitz’s residency going on display. The exhibition showcases diverse homes and their inhabitants worldwide, providing a fresh perspective on home life.

As the creative project continues to trend, it raises an intriguing question: How do you feel about the representation of ‘life at home’ in the media? Do you believe this project will bring a more authentic portrayal of home life to the forefront? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
