Cardeomuscular
Tesla, the industry-leading EV automaker, has issued a massive recall of 1.8 million cars. This move comes in response to concerns over potential hood issues, marking one of the largest recalls in the company’s history. The recall primarily affects vehicles in the United States and includes various models produced between 2013 and 2024. The models involved are the Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y. The issue at hand pertains to the hood latch assembly, which may fail to detect an unlatched hood after it has been opened. The recall aims to mitigate the risk of the hood unexpectedly opening while the vehicle is in motion. Such an event could obstruct the driver’s view, thereby increasing the likelihood of a collision. Despite the severity of the potential risk, Tesla has confirmed that there have been no reported injuries or fatalities linked to this issue. In a bid to rectify the problem, Tesla has released an over-the-air software update. This approach aligns with the company’s customary practice in handling recalls. The recall, however, underscores the challenges faced by Tesla as it navigates the complexities of manufacturing at scale. This marks the ninth recall for Tesla in 2024 so far, and the fourth instance in two years to affect over a million vehicles.
